About Stefan
Experience matters. Perspective makes the difference.
For 25 years, I have worked with people facing decisions that shape organisations and careers: entrepreneurs considering the next phase of their business, boards appointing leaders, management teams adapting to growth, and executives reconsidering what comes next.
My work brings together an understanding of business, a background in psychology and extensive experience of leadership decisions. I look at people in the context in which they must lead — and at organisations through the decisions their people must be able to make.

A career at the intersection of business and people.
My professional experience includes executive search, assessment and advisory work across entrepreneurial businesses, international companies, public leadership, healthcare and governance-intensive settings.
My work has also included international leadership assessment assignments across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.
Those environments differ greatly. What connects them is the need to understand both the ambition of an organisation and the people expected to carry it. A strong appointment or leadership decision must make sense in its particular context, not only on paper.
The assessor as translator
Assessment is not measurement alone. It is interpretation in context.
Assessment has been at the centre of my work for many years: more than 1,900 executives and professionals assessed, across senior appointments, successions, promotions and management reviews.
What distinguishes serious assessment is not a particular instrument. It is the judgement that integrates several sources of evidence — conversation, career history, observed behaviour, references and, where useful, structured tools — and reads them in context.
I look forward rather than only back: not whether someone matches what a role required yesterday, but where they may contribute next, under which conditions, and where uncertainty remains.
Then comes translation: turning complex, sometimes contradictory evidence into a clear conversation that a board, an owner or the person themselves can actually decide with.
How I approach assessment →
Understanding people starts with understanding the context they must lead in.
The question behind the brief.
A request for a new executive can also raise questions about the future mandate, the management team or the role of the board and owners. A concern about one leader may point to unclear responsibilities. A career transition may call for a different understanding of success.
I work with decision makers to clarify what is really at stake before narrowing the options. That can lead to a search, an assessment, a review of leadership or simply a better-founded decision about what should happen next.
Personally involved. Accountable for the advice.
Clients work with me directly on the questions and decisions that matter most. I remain closely involved in the substantive work, from shaping the assignment to weighing the evidence and discussing the recommendation.
Where an assignment calls for additional expertise or support, collaboration can strengthen the work. My responsibility for the quality and clarity of the advice remains personal.
